great idea
it’s a good idea at the first look, but:
1. Maybe an user is contacting you fo freelance work
.
2. Maybe a potential buyer wants some details before he purchases one of your file.
3. There’s already something similar we have – everytime an user contacts you, you have the possibility in the email to see what files they bought from you
(the only problem I have with that is that it’s visible only for 7 days).
4. If somebody who got your file from somewhere else contacts you and chooses option no. 2, you still have to read the email to see what it’s about before you ignore it, so it’s basically the same thing if you press on the link to see if the user has bought the file.
5. Also, that will make buyers think that support is mandatory and ask milions of questions and ask us to work fo free
.

EDIT : a great idea would be if a damn text editor would be inserted. I use writeArea(thatnks bitFade for sharing :D), but there are things that aren’t compatible with flashden tags (like strong versus b). I still can’t understand how a site so big (number 1 in the world) is using such a primitive way to edit HTML text…

have to read email, figure out is a support request, click link and delete
why not just filter before it get sent ?

it will be nice to add this:
“Authors are encouraged to offer support to buyers, but are not bound to do so. If you have purchased an item and it does not work as described or is faulty, please contact support and tell them which file you purchased and exactly what the problem has been with the item. The item will be investigated, and if it is found to be faulty or not working as described it will either be fixed or a refund will be offered.”

“Items accepted to the Envato Marketplaces are intended to work without author support. Reviewers check each file for quality standards and thorough description so buyers do not need to contact the author to make the file work. While we encourage authors to provide free support, authors are not required to do so. hmm.. the present method is already fine; we are able to see if the contacted person is our buyer or not.
If we have to find another useful feature, I would say a drop down on the form that asks to choose for which item the buyer contacts to get support or having question. Sometimes, the buyers purchases more than one item from the author and they do not mention about which item they are speaking. Some times that confuses and extends communication.
