Yes well Adobe sucks. Gotta love the overbearing large corporations. Maybe they should think about how this looks to their users. Communities like this are what make Adobe’s product popular and they need to capitalize on that not stifle it.

Wow, that’s ridiculous. The name change definitely won’t affect anything, but if the site is doing anything at all its making Flash more popular.

Interesting thing to waste their time on.

You can’t really blame adobe. You can lose your trademark if you don’t protect it.

I used to work for a company that got the same kind of letter but from Apple. They asked the company to change their logo because it was also apple shaped. Because the company already had been using the logo for several years and had all the signage and whatnot they did not want to change their logo. They wrote Apple and told them they would not remove it… and never heard from Apple again. It got the company alot of media attention though!

That said, if envato had just said “no” they might have been able to keep the name… although from the sounds of the blog post it sounds like it was a positive change anyways. meh lol

why can’t you have said, the name was Flashd – en… “Flashd” being your name… which isn’t trademarked by Adobe.. I would have put up more of a fight, and at least got some media exposure out of it. But the name change doesn’t take away from the quality service envato provides.
