Clients rarely rate the items they download, the percentage of clients who rate downloaded items does not exceed 10%. I believe we need some new ideas to encourage more ratings.

What about adding a Badge called “Reviewer” with levels such as:
- Rated 1-10 items
- Rated 10-50 items
... and so on.

Do you have other ideas to encourage more ratings?

i don’t think buyers cares about the badge man, what they want is discounts. :D how about they get points everytime they rate items, then points can be converted to credits. example: rate 2 items = 10points; then 100points = $1 credit.

Yeah, customer who does not care about rating cares even less about some badges.

And anyway, I will trade non-raters at any time of day for blackmail-raters.

This is a great idea as well. Not sure Envato and some authors would go for it. But nothing wrong with tossing around the idea.

I’m all for ideas that make the marketplace experience more enjoyable for buyers! :)

Maybe, but no body hates an extra shiny badge under his profile. Even if only 10% of clients are interested in badges we will have nice boost in number of ratings across the marketplaces.

The points system is good idea but for it to work other factors should be also included in gaining credits (like referals for example, or bonus credits after x amount of bought items) not only rating.

And also could receive a badge for low rating. Bad, very bad buyer badge, LOL (It will not bring any added value – just my point of view)
