Currently we have to refer people that haven’t been on the marketplaces yet in order to get commission. As the marketplaces get more popular, it’s going to be harder to find people that haven’t visited. My issue with this is if I create an Ad campaign, I have to pay every time someone clicks the link. If the person that clicked has already been here, Envato may get a sale but I don’t get anything for it AND I have to pay for the click.

I feel that every click from my Ad that results in a sale should be commssionable. Maybe make it lower, like 15% if the person has already visited, but at least it might cover the cost of them clicking my Ad.

Thoughts?

I agree. There is rule that makes affiliate program hard.
If you have visited one of the Envato Marketplaces before and then click a referral link, it doesn’t count

I think it’s best for authors to promote just their items. I have tested some ways of promoting my items after each one, I’ve noticed an increase in sales but I couldn’t get their referral comission.

@codenegar – there are people that just make money with referrals. Of course promoting your own items will help, but there are some other great items in the marketplace that I want to promote as well.

I know about people that just make money with referrals and I think rules should be easier so they can earn more. Because they help everyone even new authors to have sells. Their work is very valuable.

I didn’t realise that, no wonder my earnings are so low/non-existent.
