I’ve got a referral link from my site which is for my client to click in and then signup and buy themes from ThemeForest. I’ve a client that did that, however NO commission was paid out. I need to get clear of this and I even submit a support ticket. What makes matter worst was when I try to login to Envato Support, I was unable to do so despite the fact that my login was correct. Please let me know what is going on here and why NO comms is given to me and why I cannot login to the support page.

2 things from this page:

- If a person clears their cookies then we can’t track them any more

- *If you have visited one of the Envato Marketplaces before and then click a referral link, it doesn’t count

*This really should be dropped.

Not sure if this should be dropped… This is really a question that every affiliate program out there asks while launching their services. It can only work one of two way: - only the oldest click counts - only the newest click counts

Apparently Envato has chosen the former way to go. This assures that the client who comes recommended by you, doesn’t get his cookie overwritten by future clicks from other pages. Depending on how you look at these things, it can sometimes work in your favor and sometimes now.

@prezzz – the rule I wrote in bold has nothing to do with what you’re saying. Take a look at the affiliates page and you’ll see that your example is a separate rule from this one ;)

It’s not to do with cookies getting overwritten.

What it says is something like: if your referral previously googled ‘wordpress themes’ and came to themeforest.net, we place a cookie of our own and you get nada. Doesn’t matter that you were the one that convinced the visitor to actually go and buy, if he visited our site (even accidentally, even if we, Envato were unable to convert to a sale), you get nothing. Makes more sense now? :)

Always tell your client to clear their cookies or use a different browser when purchasing.

I’ve referred over 1,000 users, and I can assure you the referral and commission system works as described.

Like Cosmin said, they’ve probably already visited the site before; or possibly they had cookies disabled or cleared.
