Hey guys, have you seen this? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deezmaker/buko-3d-printer-raising-the-bar-of-open-source-3d

I’m thinking of getting into this. Looks like a lot of fun and could be very useful for creating promotional items and also general house hold pieces / DIY solutions.

Any one have any experience with 3D printing?

It really seems like magic to be able to make something out of nothing using Bukobots! Though I doubt it could really make accurate mechanical models

For some reason I get all excited when I see it in action. I emailed them to see if they will ship to Canada. No reply yet.

I think it could be a really cool hobby to paint 3d figurines that you could design in Cinema4D and print out as a model. Make toys for your kids… you’d be a hero in the eyes of many family members ;)

Agreed. Minus the fun of checking your models for water-tightness :D

I’ve been looking at doing some 3d printing through a company called “Shapeways”.

yes, this will be the future indeed. But it’s not yet done. When the printers can use metallic elements beside plastic or foam thats will be the time when creativity and real knowledge will has real value again. just think about it. A good 3D printer will be able to “print” itself. Or even a better version as well. Everything will be different. I hope i can see those times before i will die, or even just the dawn of those times.
