Hello, has anyone tried or messed with the Air 2.6 runtime replacing iphone packager? I am interested in the capability and if it would be better than old iphone packager.

Indeed that’s what adobe currently aims for, there is also Playbook RIM compatible. Personally I’m not completely against this, it could save huge amount of time by developing cross platform app. Let just hope adobe make the performance up to par.

different platforms have different design and platform standards as well as resolutions etc so it’ll never really work as simply as this…

yes it’s not simple that’s why adobe takes the hard part and also criticism if their implementation isn’t good enough.
There is already several not simple cross platform technologies, to list a few: Flash ! Java, Unity, titanium, monotouch…
