we’ve all been complaining about these unprofessional buyers who give poor ratings for ridiculous & unjustified reasons so as far as TF has set high standards and support as a non-mandatory requirement then normally there should be no themes that should be rated 1 or 2 stars

therefore buyers that give 1 or 2 stars ratings should only get this rating accepted upon TF approval, if there are people in Envato that check flagged comments then it wouldn’t be a problem to have those people approving 1 and 2 star ratings

+

if a buyer continuously rates themes with 1 stars he/she should get their profile checked by TF because these buyers gamble with authors’ reputation and forget that they are a click-away from affecting author’s earning that help them pay the bills at the end of the month

awaiting your kind feedback & hopefully we can get envato for once and for all perform a fair action in author’s favor because we’re all suffering from this unprofessional action

Cheers

Yep +1000

This morning I had a 1 star rating from a very pleased buyer with the following additional info:

Rating: 1 star

Reason: Customer support

Additional comment: Best theme support. Really happy with it. I recommend this developer.

Luckily I had a previous communication with this buyes, so I have his e-mail in my inbox and I just aked him what’s the reason for this inadequate rating. He apologies and changed it immediately with the explanation – I thought it’s just a generic rating system that wastes my time and didn’t realized it’s a public “real deal” that could affect your author’s rating and reputation.

Duh…

Guys, DO SOMETHING!

Yest ANOTHER stupid thing we are moaning about for months. That also affects YOUR (enavto’s) earnings and even worse than ours as you are the MINOR SHAREHOLDER (70/30 %) in our “partnership”.

Tired of all this, honestly…

I’m annoyed by this, and I’ve complained in the past, and I still get annoyed every time it happens, but!

I’m starting to understand where Envato are coming from I think. The problem is that as soon as 1 review is removed, you start crossing into a grey area in terms of censorship.

Although they say they will remove reviews which break their terms (abuse, bad language etc.) I’m starting to realise why they won’t remove them apart from this, it’s too too much of a grey area.

Remember, this isn’t the only marketplace that does this, take a look at amazon, you’ll see items with 500+ 5 stars and then 1 idiot who says “shipping was slow, I hate you amazon!”

Censorship is a tricky thing.

Hi, thanks for your feedback look every platform has it’s rules and amazon’s dimension goes far beyond Envato’s it’s a much smaller community with simpler monitoring than Amazon’s so as far as Envato can still handle these actions then they should do it the same way the do it with flagged comments (flagged comments and ratings are more or less from the same level of censorship)

+ it’s in the benefit of the community to have better transparency for buyers and for authors because the purpose of a rating is to be able to judge the item’s quality (not the quality of the support, as long as support is not mandatory)

+ the number of minimum rating should be increased to at least 10 because 3 is really low

cheers UOU

Everyone author want this, because all 1-2 stars ratings is fakes from competitors or crazy buyers, but this is not possible. Envato does not have people that will review your 1000+ new ratings per day. Themeforest only have 1-3 theme reviewers, how they can review ratings? They don’t have time to review themes in short time.

there should be no themes that should be rated 1 or 2 stars

I can show you some that qualify! (But most were withdrawn after I spent my $50)

P.S I never have rated below 5 stars myself, although perhaps I should of as I would have saved a lot of people money judging by the comments on these items, or the items sudden disappearance from the marketplace.

it’s not the reviewers that should review the rating it’s the staff in charge of flagged comments so as far as they have time to review flagged comments then they should have time to review 1 / 2 stars ratings and send warnings to buyers that abuse the rating system

Looking at different items here on TF, I see a lot of screenshots of reviews on the item’s main page. Of course they’re all 5 star ratings. The thing is, the usernames of these buyers are visible in those screenshots.

So… Why not make a screenshot of the unfair and rediculous 1 and 2 star ratings as well, and show them to the public? No need to hide the username of the buyer as well, just look at all the screenshots of those 5-star ratings.

Just an idea.

the thing is not all prospects will go and look at the details of the rating, many of them already judge the item from the rating on the results page, so if a rating =3.X some of them don’t even click on it, so the idea is to tackle the problem of fake & unjustified ratings cheers UOU
