I’ve seen authors featured twice, 2 weeks featured item and non exclusive authors with 3-4 vector items featured on the front page. So there is no criteria to get featured it’s a lottery. That person responsible with choosing featured authors just do his job picking every week one of us randomly like a bot.

As I proposed before should be multiple featured items / authors and more free files / one month.

We are 2,927,547 members now and 1 featured authors / items per week or 1 free file of the month is not enough anymore.

But old habits die hard.

Can’t speak for other marketplaces, but back in the day I was featured 3 times on ActiveDen (author + 2 individual items). And although the recognition/badges are great, I remember not experiencing that much of a sales boost any of the times. So honestly I wouldn’t spend too much time trying to figure out the mysteries of the feature process. If you get lucky and get the award that’s awesome, but as far as generating sales, the best recipe for that is upload, upload, upload! :)

I guess one of the parameters (other than product quality and…) to be featured is be active on forums.

Exactly! If you’re not active in the community, which GraphikoFX doesn’t seem to be with just 16 forum posts in 3-4 years, then you may not even be noticed.

I highly doubt that featured author/file is related with forum posts

I agree bilbo_b. The process of choosing featured author here is like a lottery. Wait for your luck :)

Not directly no, but how will an author get noticed just by a small amount of uploads in several years? Being active in the community means that all the staff will at some point know that you exist, by simply reading some of your posts; they may then even check out your work and think ‘ooo this author’s awesome, I’m going to recommend them for a feature’.

This is just my opinion anyway, I may be wrong :)

Nope, not like a lottery really at all. Once again here’s what Scott said:

Here’s what it takes to be a Featured Author. Note, it could be ANY of the following, not ALL of the following:
  • A high quality portfolio. A new author with just a handful of files is unlikely to be featured
  • Has shown incredible consistency in quality throughout their portfolio
  • Perhaps the author has had one or two recent “hits” – items that have sold well
  • Consistent sales
  • A growing portfolio of items
  • Good community member
  • Catches the eye (or ear!) of reviewers with something unique
  • Has numerous items suitable to the week being featured (Halloween week, Christmas week etc…)

+1 With so many awesome authors any type of promotion is a blessing. But next time I’ll gladly trade you my feature for your bundle :P
