I’m that kind of person that likes to see websites as they look in my pc, even if i’m in my smartphone or tablet.

The first thing i do when i access a website from my cell or tablet is to search the “change to desktop version” button. I preffer to zoom in and out.

Anyone else think the same?

You’re not alone, I always use the desktop version when it’s available. The only problem is that most responsive websites don’t give you a choice :(

You’re absolutely not alone. Responsiveness is guilty for making a great portion of websites look almost same on mobile devices.

one of the things i hate on must responsive websites is that you can not zoom in photos. Also many times there are things in the desktop version that don’t appear in the responsive version and that piss me of lol

3 years ago Facebook didn’t have an iPad app so Mark Zuckerberg was asked at a mobile conference about it. He replied by saying “iPad’s Not Mobile…It’s A Computer…Sorry”.

I was intrigued about what he said, and how he didn’t consider the iPad mobile since it is very mobile to me. I carry it everywhere. I came to realize afterwards when I kept clicking on “view the desktop” site link what he really meant. Some responsive websites are really annoying on tablets.

I love the responsive versions on smart phones, they’re really helpful and all but when It comes to tablets, no sir. So how I see the use in responsiveness in tablets? Only if you’ve got a website with a 1200px container transform it to 1000px and make all the elements fit in that container. No full width elements or dropdown menu. There is no use to that in a landscape mode tablet.

The word mobile comes from the word: mobile telephone.. iPad is not a mobile, its a computer, just because you can move it around, doesn’t mean it’s a mobile… a laptop you can move around, but it’s still a computer. Think of the iPad as a keyboardless laptop, which you can hold. The correct term is tablet… if an iPad could make calls and fit in your pocket.. then it would be called a mobile. (but that’s basically the iPhone lol)

I don’t think that’s a requirement anymore, with latest 5” + smartphones :P

Not really! Dedicated will always bring more features and faster loading times than responsive!

Responsive = a tone of extra loading for nothing! But hey, that’s just my opinion! :)

BIG +1 for this! :)
