Hi all ,

First of all , I tought it was funny when people complain about getting rejected in the PSD but now … I understand :) I got 2 theme rejected at the same time lol

This is my first theme :

http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/ddsolutions/1_homepage.jpg http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/ddsolutions/2_about.jpg http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/ddsolutions/3_hosting.jpg http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/ddsolutions/4_contact.jpg

For this one .. I understand .. It wasnt 100% my best ..

Here is the second theme rejected :

http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/fdlr/1_homepage.jpg http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/fdlr/2_portfolio.jpg http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/fdlr/3_about.jpg http://www.ddwebstudios.com/uploads/fdlr/4_contact.jpg

Agains not my best , but they told me that they ’’BELEIVE’’ it would be accepted in HTML if converted.

Getting rejected is not a problem for me at all, it give me an opportunity to level up my game and give the best of me.

I have 2 provlem regarding this situation. 1st .. the message they left me for the second theme :

This item is not what we’re looking for the site in terms of aesthetic. However, I believe it will be approved under site template if you are going to convert this.

Why is it so unclear ? .. Is it good enough , or is it not ? .. I don’t care if it’s not , i’ll try something else , but if I code it and then they refuse it , hmm then I’m gonna be pissed off.

The other problem I have is that I tried a new style .. there is too much ’’clean’’ portfolio out there .. a good exemple is these 2 theme :

http://themeforest.net/item/minim/27429

http://themeforest.net/item/design-and-creative-and-corporate-design/27526

They are both really good .. but they are REALLY similar. Why accept 2 theme almost identical in 2 days ? .. I think there is some really good improvement to be done there.

Also , here is a solution I propose to Themeforest :

The approval should be separate in 2 phases. First you upload all your screenshot and then you receive an approval on the ’’design only’’ so after that , you send all your files with it and you are done. If you are rejected .. you go to work , change some things .. and then resubmit the screenshot only .. not all the files + description + reviewers comments etc etc .. that is wayyyy too long and we all know that the approval services is really slow , so is the support services.

Don’t get me wrong here , I love themeforest and I know this job is not easy for them , but there is always place for getting better.

Oh and you can give your comments on my ’’approved’’ PSD :P

Thanks !

BTW sorry for my english , im french ;)

Ok, to start, please don’t point out other people’s themes/templates and include links to them (they will prob. be removed soon).

The reason the message about coding it is unclear is because the reviewer that looked at your submission will most likely not be the same reviewer that looks at the coded submission. So, the response was appropriate because he/she doesn’t know if it will be accepted for sure as a coded version.

The quality standards for the PSD category are higher than the HTML Templates category so it is going to be easier (in terms of design) to get your template approved. Of course it takes much more work to code it as well.

As far as your rejected designs go, I suggest taking some time to look at some of the highest selling items to get an idea for what ThemeForest is looking for.

I hope this helps! :-)

Thanks ,

Why can’t I point other’s theme ? I think you see probleme where there are not.

And I know what Themeforest is looking for , I have 1 PSD approved.

I’m just saying that the approval process should be revise.

Absolutely! But I think they are working on it.

Oh I think if You upload these as Site templates they will be approved almost 100%.

Maybe not the Hosting one .. he would have said it .. but that’s ok I didn’t like it and I agree that it wasn’t really good… I’m re-working on the Portfolio.

Posting references and links to other people’s themes/templates isn’t allowed because 1) It can be used as a form of advertisement and 2) It is inappropriate to use other author’s work as comparison to your own publicly in the forums or to point out what you believe to be an issue.

If you believe there is an issue in regards to someone else’s work, you should contact support directly.

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to say that you didn’t know what ThemeForest is looking for in PSD ’s. Out of curiosity, why are you submitting PSD ’s that aren’t your best work and that you know aren’t what ThemeForest is looking for?

You should contact support and let them know about your idea to revise the PSD submission process. That is probably the fastest way to potentially have it changed.

I already contacted them , just wanted to talk about that here and get your ideas. I know my comments sounds like I am mad , but I am really not. Maybe it is because i’m french and I can’t cleary say what I think :)

Thanks for explaining about not pointing other’s people work , I will edit my previous post.

Excellent question about why I post PSD that are not my best work .. humm maybe I’m just to impatient I think .. My design never take me more than 2-3 hours to do .. (COFFEE theme took me 3 hours) After that , I get bored .. so If there is nothing good after that time .. I submit it ..

It’s probably not a good thing for me and I’m trying to stop doing that .. Maybe I should start multiple design at the same time to work on different design every day.
