Just got an email about this and watched the video. For the average internet user who relies on the convenience of a laptop, this is going to be big. But it will need Microsoft Office to make a splash in the business world, and I wonder if Microsoft would oblige.

I agree with you, but I just don’t see people who only really browse the net spending $500.00 for this device. I think they will just get an iPod Touch or a full laptop. Casual internet browsers wont pay the Apple tax, well I don’t think so, this is just me speculating.

I see the iPad as something that would be placed out on your coffee table as you would any magazine or book, something to be used casually as you watch tv, or relax.

I’m really hoping they bring magazines into the iBookstore, would be great to grab the latest issue of your favorite mag on the fly from anywhere in the world.

Wow! I just assumed it would have the plugin. This makes this product pretty weak in my opinion.

I don’t understand why anyone would buy that when there’s the HP TX2 around ->
it has multitouch
it’s small as well ( 12 inch ) but still big enough to watch a movie in good conditions and light enough to be carried around
it starts at 700$ ( just 200$ more then the iPad)

what do you get more for 200$ more?
a proper processor – AMD turion dual core 2.2Ghz
video card ATI hd3200 with dedicated ram
USB ports (how can the ipad lack that ?)
runs a real OS, not a phone OS, vista license, runs win 7 smoothly
3G RAM and 320 G storage (rather then the 1G and 64G available on the ipad)
flash player
webcam and microphone for video chat
fingerprint reader
remote control
can be a laptop, can be a tablet
others

Because then you easily load your own free content onto the iPad. Apple want everything bought from them. Its the same with the lack of multi-tasking as it makes itunes competitors like lastFM and Pandora much less attractive.
