I had a guy email me wanting me to do some stuff for him and in regard he would trade me his envato marketplace files in return. I thought this was very odd and I really don’t think this is allowed.
Anyone have any information regarding this?

Well, is the other author verified by you (did you get an email message from your profile form ?)and, is this other author Exclusive to Envato?
Why don’t you just buy each others files?

So, this person wants you to work for them, and they’ll pay you with their files . . . strange indeed.
Q: Is exclusivity based on the author or the individual file? Meaning, could I sell one file here and sell a completely different one on my own site?A: Exclusivity is on a per file basis so yes, as long as the files are completely different, you could sell one here and one on your site.

They want a logo design that is unique and not something that is on my portfolio.
I’m not willing to work for other files, as if I want a file I purchase it.
I just didn’t know if you could trade your files or not and if that was against the TOS .

Oh, well just tell them you charge $XXX.00 amount for a unique Logo Design, and sorry I don’t wish to trade for files.
Then they can hit up some other designer.

trading files for your hard work, i dont think that is a very good idea.and at the end of the day it is nothing but a waste of your hard work.. why dont you ask him to pay you $200-$300 for that UNIQUE logo you are about to make for them.. and with that money you can not only purchase their files, but you can purchase any files in this marketplace…
but it is always your call that counts.. good luck.
