November is coming, are you starting to make the shortcodes and post types to be in plugin?

Yup we are doing our updates in 2 phases – first phase is to bring all themes (however old) up to date with current requirements like adding in pagination for comments, pages, making sure things are called correctly and basic tidy-up of files, removal of short codes from inside the theme to a new plugin etc. We also took the opportunity to remove some very old items from sale.

Next phase is to remove all CPT to plugins (we already built 4 and are in testing phase) – however as we don’t have a confirmed date, or a list of final requirements we aren’t starting on this yet – I asked for confirmation on the main forum thread a few days ago and was followed up by a few people asking the same thing – issues still to be addressed, incomplete info and no date set makes things difficult and Envato need to get organized with this stuff if we are supposed to get organized.

We need a central location with this stuff, clean and concise instructions and make all authors aware of it rather than several threads buried with 500+ comments – it’s frustrating.

Hey

I guess I’m lucky because I’ve put shortcodes in plugin from the beginning and I don’t have any old items that need to be upgraded ;)

Cheers,
Iman

This is what I’m worry about, some of my old items can’t compatible with the plugin, because the old shortcode as [member], and I have changed it to [prefix_member], so I’m confused that how to convert the old shortcodes to the new format.

It’s hard to find the time sometimes to update an old item. Don’t think i’m gonna make it sometime these months. too much functionality…

But for new things indeed already started as soon as it was anounced.

Hi

Yeah it’s hard specially for current clients who are using the old format shortcodes inside their content. Maybe old authors should create a tool to search database with regex and update the shortcodes…

Cheers,
Iman
