Artists/Painters are underdogs here?

What I rather miss here are themes with portfolios for artists/painters and their artwork.

Normal portfolios (as for designers) are not the right: have often too small portfolio areas.

Photo portfolios (as for photographers) are not the right: have often only lightbox effect on the image thumbnails.

What I, as an artist (paintings), would like to have, is a wordpress theme with a huge portfolio area in that way, that each click on an image thumbnail, should lead to a description page, with some zoom function (is possible with jQuery) of the artwork, for example.

Like this gallery function for example: http://wptheme5.mipdesign.com/?page_id=206 But the portfolio isn’t made for many (!) artworks

It’s hard for me to describe this with my bad English, sorry, but perhaps somebody understand

What you are looking for I believe is a theme that has a portfolio section – shows thumbs that when clicked lead to what is also known as a client case study page – it shows images of pages on the clients site which when clicked zoom showing a larger image using jquery.

I’m creating a website for a client that does EXACTLY what you are talking about right now – it’s very common.

I would of thought there was quite a few on here like this but I haven’t looked myself – but I agree if there are not any then there needs to be.

I for one will make sure I release a HTML template like this.

For me as an artist/painter is important, to show my clients a zoom or detailed view of the artwork, not just a bigger image when clicking on the small one.

I’ve made again several acrylic paintings, which are waiting to be sold, guys

So I urgently need a good, clean theme (WP preferred) with zoom jQuery, no shop, just to show the artworks, with the possibility to show a description to each artwork, a detailed/zoomed view.

Most themes here are dimensioned for a small portfolio, the others only for showing photos, with no description page to each and zoom/detailed views of the artworks.

The WP theme needs to be dimensioned for a big portfolio for paintings in different categories. But each needs it’s own description page and view(s).
