// personal opinion – out of my chest – frontend devs what are you doing please stahp
- jQuery Custom Scrollbars :: This might look pretty but it decreases significantly the performance of your site.
- Music / Video Autoplay :: Doesn’t need explanation.
Agreed on custom scrollbars. There are certain elements that should remain as they were intended. And some of the sluggishness on themes I’ve seen using them is so jarring!
Agreed as long you’re referring to poor crafted projects. There is still place for well crafted experiences which differ from pure informative sites.
+100 for both and also for google map, if map is set to 100% width you can’t scroll page down normally
really turned off by too much emphasis on JQuery and effects. Functionality is one thing, but when features start to interfere with site functionality, that fine line between cool feature and annoying distraction is crossed. I hope we can keep adding to this thread.
Somehow is funny (and absurd) to read the same discussion that was around flash sites ten years ago. Exactly same things, problems, reasons and complaints.
I think these features should be disabled by default and users should have the ability to turn them on, if they want to (maybe place the option under advanced settings in the setting panel). Simple as that for me.
I’m the same opinion like liviu_cerchez, with option to turn it off is the best way, and as many people that feauture hate, as many people love it
