I could be wrong but I think Denizen makes new posts to point out the need for sticky threads, or a way to “bookmark” or save a thread. I know we have said something about it to FD and I know they are prob working on this, but to tell you the truth, to me, it would be easier to post a new thread than look for my old one. So, Denizen, I understand, but you may be beating a dead horse. :(

regardless of the new posts, I dont think this type of post should be allowed at all. I know he is not promoting himself, but this is similar to what flashcart used to do. Except hes promoting others, and then with the authors directory…promoting himself. I mean this type of thing is something that one would post in a forum OUTSIDE of flashden, and even there it would probably piss off the folks that follow that forum. But promoting files on the forum, from what I understand, is not really the point of the forum. Also the thread topic is misleading, I click it thinking someone has a good resource, or someone is having trouble with an “AS3 Scrollbar” and in reality its a “AS3 File Spotlight”. I think the idea of spotlights are a great idea, but its nothing new…its called being featured, and its on the main page…and the staff decides.

JWG , Thanks for your clarifying comments.

I have had a couple of positive and productive conversations with Vahid. He has expressed his appreciation for my efforts in making access to AS3 files easier for FD customers until the FD search system is upgraded.

I assured him that I would not respond to negative comments from the usual suspects. He would appreciate it if those people have a problem with my trying to make FD a better place should contact him, not waste forum space.

If you are referring to me, being a usual suspect, and my comment being negative, I would like to just clarify, that…yes your intentions are good. But at the same time, I feel like the AS3 issue can be solved very easily by the FD staff modifying the search box to accept 3 character searches. I do like that you have a running list of AS3 authors/files. Its a great idea in the meantime…but replying to a thread is not wasting forum space, if anything IMO the creation of a new thread every time you want to post something about the SAME topic, is where “wasting forum space” would be applicable. You could very easily return to your original posting, and “bump” it, or add your new entry to the bottom of the posting, like everybody else in this community does. I’m sorry all but I am having a bad day as it is, and don’t like being referred to as “a usual suspect” and that I am “wasting space” just annoyed me a bit. ;)
