Another unnecessary change was made to the UI requiring more clicks from authors who use the website from a phone or tablet. To get to the author dashboard, you used to be able to just click (or touch) the button on the top and it would take you there. Or you can hover (or hold your finger down) to see the menu. Now when you touch it, it drops down the menu and then you have to select the author dashboard. Why did you change this? Can you please change it back????? This is something many of us do multiple times a day and this requires an extra step each time. Since you already changed the header to be less mobile friendly, you almost HAVE to zoom in in order to touch the right menu item. Mobile UI just got even worse with this change…
I can still touch “Forums” and it takes me to the forums without having to pick it from the drop menu. Why the inconsistency?
Also noticed this change. On the iPad I used to just click there to get to the dashboard. I was doing that all the time…
Have to agree – it’s just annoying.
Not to say that I oppose your position or consider the observation to be inaccurate, but for me personally, it was quite annoying to be taken to the Author Dashboard whenever I was in fact trying to reach ANY other option under that dropdown.
I certainly understand why this would be annoying as an author, but I can equally see this to be an improvement for buyers (trying to reach the “Downloads” section for example).
^ you could still access the menu. In android you touch and swipe down and it would give you the menu without going to the dashboard…
You can verify by trying it on the Forums link as it works like the button used to.
You don’t need a drop down, as once you visit / land on your dashboard you have all the tabs for what is contained within the drop down tho right? Therefore it’s duplicate menu basically – but I understand that if you just wanted to go direct to statement, then yes you would want a drop down, but really, analytics should of probably shown that 99% of clicks on your profile name from authors was exactly where they wanted to be – their dashboard.
@WebSmacker, I am using Dolphin, as an android user, I’m sure you can understand why. Swiping down in case you’ve had the audacity to enable “hide top bar” to enjoy the full screen, simply makes it appear, instead of the dropdown
@jonathan01, you are correct Sir. I was merely trying to explain that this change might very well have been implemented with analytics in mind… and should maybe not be considered unnecessary without taking that into account.
On that note, do feel free to ignore my input, because I am fully aware that I might be an exception from the vast majority of users touching that menu, and also a clear exception from the author usage POV for said menu
