And what about post thumbnails feature?? i just asking because i see the nav menu requirements….. i mean, for me it´s ok since it´s a new feature and a good one, but i ask my self why not same thing with the post-thumbnails?Well, any site must have a menu or some sort of navigation, hence the new requirement for WP3 compatible themes.
However, not all sites make use of post thumbnails/featured image (as they’re called now) so I think that it wouldn’t make sense to force authors to include post thumbnails support in all themes (if that’s what you’re saying).
yep, that´s what i said and yep you´re right

Start from now, all WordPress theme which is WP 3 .0 compatible must support at least 1 wp nav menu ( Where user can assign their menu location – under menu > theme locations ). We have to be more strict on this from now on.
By this do you mean we have to provide wordpress menu’s support for example:
Apperance > Menus
Then the theme’s main menu is run off this?
I am confused??

i guess the theme´s main menu should be one under Apprerance > Menus, and sound very logical, in fact i do my themes that way, no more hand coded menus on the head.php, or include and exclude fields on options, just the new menu system and allow user to create it.
You can of couser do an if statment to use a default menu if no nav menu is created, but i don´t know if that´s usefull or confused for users.
The new menu feature is so easy to integrate and to use, I can’t imagine why anyone would not use it. It is only a few lines of code and you have a better menu system than 99.9% of the older themes out there. Sweet.

Not compulsory but recommended to do so
Default Requirements ( 3.0 ): Start from now, all WordPress theme which is WP 3 .0 compatible must support at least 1 wp nav menu ( Where user can assign their menu location – under menu > theme locations ). We have to be more strict on this from now on.
I already submitted my theme for approval before i read this thread. I was considering implementing WP 3 .0 menus but decided not too.
If my theme get’s approved this time i can update it to support this feature so hopefully that won’t lead to it getting bounced again will it?
Thank you for this info. Just finished new WP theme and I have included this feature

I don’t think that is necessary, as long as the widget is working properly, its fine.
