Current author ratings take all of the ratings in consideration, but most of the people have improved in skill and updated their portfolio accordingly.
I believe that author ratings should consider ratings for items that are currently in an author’s portfolio.
Right now, the system allows an author with only 5-star items to have a general rating of 3 -stars.

Well, author rating is made up of theme ratings. I am just saying that deleted items should not account for an author ’s rating.

actually it makes sense as it is right now, even the past deleted items have a part in your marketplace presence as an author.
Example: One updates poor files and get bad ratings, then just delete them to get a clean reputation.

But you can’t really justify an “improved” author right now. If an author improved his files or his support, he can’t get to 5 stars.
As a matter of fact, one cannot have “poor” files since the quality standards are very good atm.

I think that would still make sense. Why would an author have a bad rating if the does not have files?
Also, if that same author uploads a great file, he will still have a poor rating.
