I apologize if that sounds disrespectful, it wasn’t my intention. As far as I know “complain” means “to express dissatisfaction, uneasiness, etc” so the word was correctly used, I think.

Yea, this will be incredibly useful. If you don’t want to use this new feature, then don’t. Lol.

Please read the original post. This tool is an after effect of new announcement that requires 72 hour response time. In such case, the only way to take a vacation is by informing the time to buyers.

Just pointing because you say as if this is optional for ever. (and laughing ;) )

@justinfrench, you are saying as if this is optional but when the Support becomes mandatory for 6 months and 72 hours restriction put on response time, anyone going for vacation can’t avoid using this tool/info right?

The answer from the authors is that we don’t want the “72 hours” option to be forced upon us. Why do you want to test this vacation time? What is the point? Why going against the community?

We asked for this feature two years ago. You are now bundling it with something we DO NOT AGREE!.

Some aspects of the Item Support announcement are plans for December 1 and beyond, and many of them will go through a lot of refinement. The ‘72 hours’ in particular was a starting suggestion, and there’s clearly lots of feedback we need to take into consideration.

Other aspects of Item Support, like vacations, are related, but we’d like to see them launched much sooner, letting their usage, uptake and impact influence the rest of our decisions.

I find myself on vacation a lot, its why I chose to make this my full time employment (which is awesome). In fact I’m on vacation right now in Japan. I think I’m with a lot of the other authors on this one. No one needs to know this but me and the customers (whom I tell) who have questions I can’t answer because 1) I don’t have the right tools for the question or 2) I have limited internet access etc etc.

What are the limitations on vacation time?

ps. ^ asking that makes me feel sad / slightly angry. Asking for vacation time as a self employed business owner? :| I know Envato have received a lot of negative backlash in the past day or so and I don’t want to add more on top of that but it’s getting a little hard to stay subjective here.

edit: I say this because my understanding is when the mandatory support comes in, we will HAVE to notify that we are on holiday correct? Otherwise we run the risk of having customers (not “clients”) report long lead times, which will results in item disabling?

Soooooooo many loose ends and missing features that affect ALL 8 MARKET (PLACES), yet every day I only see new features that affect ThemeForest (and possibly CodeCanyon) only ... :(

To name a few:
1) faceted search and other search improvements
2) shopping cart and multiple licences…
3) numerous small fixes/additions which were recommended numerous times and were promised to be “looked at”...

I am sorry, but I really don’t like this anymore.

We haven’t implemented any limitations. The focus is on providing tools to authors that help them proactively inform and set expectations with their buyers.

Thank you for the reply! I do appreciate the fact this is about improving the communication with authors and buyers I’m just not totally sold yet :) Tokyo and Melbourne run on the same time so I’m guessing you have probably officially clocked off for the day. I do have Skype it’s just [removed – ill email you] – feel free to make a call anytime (I’ll try be online as much as possible tomorrow).
