I agree that there should be a better or fair way than bundles, how about having a store-wide (market-place wide) discount for all items? I think they did it for photodune alone. So how about a one whole week where every item is sold for, say, 25% of the original price. Envato and authors shares 50% each.

I dont think this is a good idea. It will mean we get 12,5% of orginal price, wich is nothing. You can add your item to the “free files of the month” if you want to promote.

well, I agree that my idea is not 100% feasible, but it can bring in new buyers. and at least it will be fair for all. One bundle sale only gives you 1% of the sale price you otherwise make, it is the volume of sale that makes it profitable.

Anyway, I think authors who have put in effort to make their items so well that they got selected in bundle is also a great effort. So, lets just keep making quality file and hope to get in a bundle next time :)

Last idea regarding this – may be Envato should tell well in advance that what is the selection criterion for getting into next bundle – so that giving everyone a fair chance of getting in to it.

Items discount was done on Photodune for ONE major reason – to ENCOURAGE the community (authors/buyers) to purchase Photodune images at a very affordable rate and use it for their various projects (mostly for preview purposes). However, selling all Graphicriver (other marketplaces) items with 25% discount will not profit us at all. Items are already CHEAP not to talk more of 25% for all items – it will certainly affect the market and many buyers will have the impression that Envato is running out of business.

The bundle is good because only ONE of your files is included and sold lesser the original price. Therefore, authors included will gain the publicity and more buyers.

Selling the overall items on various Envato marketplaces (25% the original price) is a bad idea and if implemented, will certainly result to downgrade. There is no need to complain – if one of your files is lucky to be included, you will be happy for the publicity but if NOT , your opinion will be one-sided. Bundles have helped a good number of authors based on publicity – lesser price for one item is better than lesser price for all items – we will all lose.

LOL , even if the criteria are known (if exists), I would suggest authors to make files according to industry demand and trends – not necessarily for lucky offers like this. ;)

Don’t run behind or depend on that!

But I guess envato doesn’t pay On the total sales but it pays some percentage like 150 times of your item cost divided by your sales percentage
