So based on these rules I assume it’s allowed to link to third-party sites from your profile. The Self promotion rules only apply to the forum. Please correct me if I’m wrong ;)

I think you’re spot on, exactly right. It’s not on the forums and so I think it’s ok. Sure if you’re going to an alternative marketplace off your profile page that should be questioned but your own site should be allowed.

I think there has definitely been a misunderstanding in this case…

We definitely need an official word on this from staff. To make it clear once for all, as I’ve seen similar topics pop on Forums now and then…

There’s no hard and fast rule other than to be smart about your linking. Linking to your website is OK but a link like “Click here for free files!” or “Buy more of my stuff here” is not.

Based on my experience from the end of September when i was disabled for 4 days I want to prevent many authors from disabling.

were you sent a message asking you to remove the links before being disabled? Just curious.

Just remove the links to all the stuff and competing marketplaces on your profile page and you wont get any troubles!

True, I just think disabling isn’t really necessary in these cases unless the author is a repeat offender. Instead, Envato could just wipe the entire profile page clean and send the author an email.
