[Authors]The Great Google Adwords Experiment – Join the Next Campaign

Hi fellow authors,

You might have noticed on the Envato notes blog recently a couple of posts giving details of an Adwords campaign which was run by a group of authors from ActiveDen about 1 year ago. See this post for the details/results of this campaign.

Recently we decided to run a new version of this same Adwords campaign, but this time it will be aimed at Themeforest and CodeCanyon. These marketplaces are much more popular than ActiveDen was, so we can imagine this campaign will be much more successful.

So how does it work?

Basically we are looking for 19 additional authors who have at least 2 items on either TF or CC or between them. These authors will need to create a YouTube channel which features at least 2 videos of their work. A screencast of the theme/plugin/template with background music should do the trick. These videos will then be dynamically imported into the campaign’s landing page and 2 items from each author will be shown randomly in a grid arrangement. (Some authors last time bought presentation templates from VideoHive and used those instead)

What’s the goal?

The purpose of all this it to increase the sales for all participating authors as well as helping to grow the user base of the Envato marketplaces in general, which is of benefit to all authors. To achieve this we aim to use Adwords and YouTube videos to drive traffic to the landing page, from there traffic is sent to specific files and in the process receives a common referral link. The participating author therefore receives a potential buyer direct to their item page. If the referred user then buys anything either from that author or from the whole marketplace, any referral income is collected on the campaign’s Envato username. This income then goes back into the Adwords pot to fuel the process for another month. Then we just rinse & repeat as long as there are available funds.

What does it cost?

The cost of the campaign will be $75 per author. Of this amount $60 will be added to the Adwords account and $15 will go towards setup expenses (domain name,hosting,landing page, etc). We will be taking care of the project setup and Adwords campaign management.

When is this happening?

We are NOW gathering the group of authors and over the course of the next few weeks we will be getting ready to start. Once we have the full group, we will set up an email list so we can keep in touch with everyone.
