While I was updating my profile, I realized that ThemeForest does not accept .png files as it used to in the past and only .jpeg files are allowed for avatar. I wonder why is there such a change when the transparency supported by .png files can be quite useful in making non-square avatar?

I know we can use the same background colour to ‘simulate’ it but it won’t look nice when it shows up over another avatar on the threads list in the forum.

But now it shows “JPEG 80×80px” below the image upload input field for avatar image. If it’s due to file size, I wonder what is the maximum acceptable file size?

Thanks.

This seems to work. I did this yesterday but I guess it wasn’t updated soon enough (there was no picture shown even after several refreshes) and I thought it wouldn’t work.

Perhaps Envato should also put .PNG as the acceptable file format rather than just .JPEG.
