A friend of mine reported me today that an awarded site was using my template. Nonetheless I had mixed feelings about this and I really didn’t know how to react or if I just should be happy for the guy who won the award.

I’m aware that they have the right to do so, but shouldn’t these competitions reward uniqueness? Did this happen to you too?

The reviewers should check if the site is based on a theme, because some of them clearly specify that “works based on on templates are not allowed”..

I also have mixed feelings.. I guess that if the theme is highly customized one could do it(i have an example of a theme of mine which you wouldn’t recognize for example). But if one just takes the theme adds a few pictures then submits it to a css gallery, i believe it’s wrong..

btw .. on the same topic, i recently had a buyer who had customized a theme of mine a bit and he was that happy with the result that he asked me if he could sell his customized version of the theme on TF :D

Sell stock templates is like selling your soul.
I’ve also found design studios showcasing design works based on my templates. One even using my preview images! lol

Not always. And I don’t see any reason for mixed feelings here… If you develop something and want to make it just yours why do you sell it here?
I honestly hope that the themes I place here can win a lot of awards and recognitions. That means I did my job perfectly by creating something good enough.
So, basically, congratulations flashedge you developed something worth an award :)

You don’t understand. I buy one of your themes, then go and get an award for it so i’ll get all the recognition. You get nothing :)

well you got $20-$30, and that’s the price you are looking for. Its pretty much same like you buy lottery ticket from the shop and win, then the shop keeper starts complaining that ‘oh, you got all money+recognition, and I got nothing’ :)

Your example is not even close to what’s the case here..:d

It’s about someone that’s basically saying that he developed what you did.

RubenBristian: we have different ways of seeing it, because I actually already got something… I got the comission from the sale I made. And that’s exactly what I expect when I place a file here ;)
Just different ways to see things anyway. Peace everybody :nerdy:

Let’s also hope that the copies of the templates that got awarded isn’t pirated.. because you know… there is a chance for that to happen too :/
