alright collis here is the list:

  1. fix search
  2. don’t remove the ascending/descending arrow, rather give it a redesign so that people actually get what that arrow is for
  3. add useable filters to search
  4. remove the header
  5. send the “designer” of the header in a classroom with a themeforest reviewer
  6. remove microlancer ads
  7. decide for one font for the marketplaces
  8. don’t make that font bold in all places
  9. let tabs look like tabs
  10. explain us why there are two portfolios
  11. add a reply button to ratings
  12. make ratings public
  13. play with the background color if it makes you happy, I don’t care tbh
  14. add search filters to portfolio pages
  15. add ability to set exclusivity on a per item basis
  16. introduce a new marketplace for stock footage
  17. take a look at the pipeline, maybe there is still something in it

I forgot some things:
18. introduce the shopping cart with useful features for collaborations, for example the ability to put a videohive item and the corresponding sound with one click into the cart.
19. remove sale reversal and tell us that they have only been a joke
20. let us see the full list of followers
21. add useful things to the follower-function, like showing new items of the authors I follow in my dashboard
22. start a competition on themeforest for the best envato redesign (like this)
23. add videopreviews on hover to videohive
24. differentiate between the marketplaces in terms of license, each marketplace gets his own licenses
25. add more license options to the marketplaces than just regular and extended, for example a multi-use license or a buy-out license (people can opt-in or out in their dashboard)
26. fix preview bitrate on videohive, or better yet, introduce a maximum allowed bitrate and let authors encode their previews theirselves again if they like to
27. implement the winner of the redesign contest on the marketplaces
28. have the great feeling to really have got something done today

Here’s my list fwiw:

  • Improve things – don’t just change them.
  • Regain the trust of your users (both buyers and authors)
  • Stop trying to cross promote everything, it looks all google up in here
  • Focus on quality, not just quantity
  • Go back to being an approachable company, not a corporation
  • Get this site up to basic standards of 2014 – that’s a huge list
  • Make better decisions as a CEO in whom you put power
  • Listen to your users
  • Act quicker on some ideas
  • Act slower on other ideas
  • Stop breaking the sites functions and just improve them
  • Get this community back together by creating a more level playing field for all addressing exposure concerns by redeveloping the site to become more search orientated rather than posters of new and best selling only
  • Encourage updates to items by either adding focus on updates or reducing focus on new / best sellers – right now there is NO incentive for authors to make massive updates to files
  • This list could go on for ever
  • Stop making lists and start action
  • You’re not reading this anymore are you?

All the very best in your transition Collis, sorry it came to you having to come back down the ladder, but in all honesty it’s your puppy, your decisions that got us here, and your decisions will set the future – with great power comes great responsibility as they say, and the CEO is ultimately responsible for steering the ship.

Not sure why this thread is necessary – as long as visible issues are fixed behind the scenes.

It doesn’t matter how depth the CEO involves with things; the changes like removal of sort order direction and addition of Microlancer Ad banner on search results pagination buttons (even on the author portfolio?!) are too much to tolerate – even as a mistake. This looks like :

1. Brute forcing Buyers to stop the sorting with ascending / descending orders, so that they will depend on pagination button more than ever.
2. Now insert the Microlancer Ad banner above the pagination button – as the pagination has more use right now.

In this scenario, where is the improvements on marketplace search? The current change on marketplace search looks like desperate attempt to divert buyers into Microlancer. Sadly, the staffs doesn’t value the marketplace search system; doesn’t pro-actively testing it while buyers and authors depend solely on search.
