I have been using Moneybookers as my primary online bank for two years now. I have been getting paid from Activeden, and other freelancing websites to my moneybookers account. I was very satisfied with their service.

Last week, when I checked my mail, I had received two emails of successful transactions from moneybookers. I instantly logged into my account and I found that I was able to. I checked my balance and it was all down to only $5. Some one had made illegal transactions from my account to a German MMO game service providers. :O

I was both shocked and intrigued. I believed that I had 16 characters super secure password that NO ONE ELSE in the world even had a hint about. It was a mix of lower-case, upper-case alphabets, digits, symbols. I had left no hint or clue about my password. I believe that I never even logged into my account from anywhere other than my own PC at my home. I never even logged in from my mobile phone.

When I contacted the Moneybookers support, they suspended my account and asked me for some valid documents for its re-opening. I asked them about the fate of the fraudulent transactions that have been made from my account, and all they said was “We will not be able to retrieve the funds since they have left our system”. :notfunny:

All-in-all, there was a big security breach with moneybookers service, which led all to this.

I just wanted to share my experience with all of you guys. And warn you to secure your funds before the same thing happens to you!

Hey KamilWaheed sorry to hear that.

They told you this or this was your own conclusion?

Because how do you know somebody hasnt just hacked your password?

The other thing, you can use far longer password than 16 digits, so not sure why you call this “super secure”.

I don’t think the 16 digits password was broken, I think it was stolen somehow, maybe a trojan or I don’t know.

Exactly. I also don’t think that it could be broken.

Paypal is secure enough. Also, I have heard that if someone hacks your account to make illegal transactions, Paypal backs you and returns all the funds to you.
