So I was re-reading the terms & conditions associated with the referral program along with some “linking” terms that have to do with images hosted on any Envato site. I came across the following bit:

“You are not permitted to link directly to any image hosted on the Sites or our services, such as using an “in-line” linking method to cause the image hosted by us to be displayed on another web site.”

So does this mean that I’m not allowed to copy the URL of the banner image for themeforest/grahicriver/etc and use that location (hotlink) the image when advertising any of the sites on my site?

Yup. It clearly states that you can’t link to display the graphic on your site. You copy the image, place on your server and display it from there.

Hmm, I kinda figured… just wanted to make sure cuz that’s a little odd when compared to the vast majority of affiliate/referral programs out there… The majority of them give you a predefined linking code that includes the src to the image on their site… but I guess Envato is uber worried about bandwidth.

The link I just supplied you with in my previous post directs you to these kind of ads, embedded in the referal program.. ;)
