OK -

I’m looking for suggestions on hosting companies. Specifically VPS and Dedicated. I have seen a few postings about this topic but mostly I see comments about hosts I don’t want to use.

I currently host about 70+ sites. So shared servers are not an option.

Hostgator and Bluehost were recently purchased by the same company so please don’t mention them. GoDaddy is plain garbage so you can refrain from listing them as well.

Can anyone recommend a good host? Specifically someone with experience hosting multiple large sites.

Customer support and load times are a big factor.

Also, I know some fellow authors using http://www.asmallorange.com with great satisfaction.

Thanks for the reply.

This is too ‘standard’. Meaning it doesn’t take in account large accounts. Sure they are fine for hosting a single blog. But what about dedicated servers or VPS?

I have experience with these companies except for Laughing Squid.

Bluehost is fine but they have a gazillion people hosted with them. Which means slower performance, more security risks and poorer customer service.

Had a lot of bad experiences with Dreamhost.

Keep em coming guys :)

WP Engine is great. But they have proprietary code that makes transferring sites to another host complicated.

I’m not sure, but it seems you can host as much websites as you wish. I didn’t notice any limits. Anyway it is better to ask them.

Are you sure you’re reading this right? DigitalOcean is much cheaper than MT.

EDIT: Or did you mean that all specs are higher, for a cheaper price? In that case, I wasn’t reading your comment right, instead. Oops! ;)
