What about adding a function that when you hit on the ‘x purchases’ text in your item page a list of the buyers will pop out.
It can be visible only the the author.

Or a special form to send all buyers news about the template (updates, fixes…), maybe with an opt-in checkbox on their Downloads page…
BTW , any news about the built-in sales stats on the Marketplaces ?

what about buyers anonymity? not everybody has questions or wants to be contacted
I think the best would be an hash based system as it is now. But maybe a little more enhanced via api for custom support forums / systems

They should implement something like envato authentication system. So we can check who bough the theme before logging in into the private support forum or something.

Thats what I meant. The user registers with a code he gets from envato and we will get the confirmation he bought the theme – or haven’t. Like that we don’t have to know his tf username at all.

why would want to be anonymous? only the author can see the list

Why do you want a list?
I think its important to get as less information as you need. Buyers have a right not to be known by us
so a function of anonymous can be added in the buying page and on the list will be written ‘anonymous’
