- disadvantages: After Effects isn’t 3D. The authors at Videohive have refined pseudo-3D in After Effects to a very fine art, but it isn’t 3D. You probably wouldn’t shop at a motion graphics studio that only did 2D and that attitude will trickle down to stock eventually too. Maybe not tomorrow, but sometime. It’s a good plan to have a hand in that game early on. It’s a completely different way of thinking about mograph.

Agree with that.

Started preparing a C4D template myself, but it’s allot more time consuming than just AE. Needs allot more tweaking, reflections, lighting etc. But at the end, it looks much better and more professional.

Go for it, dude. You’ll be on the front page for a year. There’s got to be some worth in that fact alone!

Yeah… rendering times of over a day are quite normal in 3D…. especially where motion blur and global illumination are concerned.

That’s one of the challenges for templates, to keep it looking good while keeping rendering times manageable for the more casual user.

Depends on the program…. there’s tutorials everywhere on Vimeo and Youtube.

Many programs will come with their own Quickstart Guides and tutorials.

And then there’s always the manual. I would always recommend to read at least a part of the manual. There you get all the information in its most condensed form.

Greyscalegorilla’s pretty well-known for Cinema…. Kind of a Videocopilot for C4D .
