I’m still fairly new to Wordpress but I’ve quickly learned that the editor is – to put it gently – not fit for purpose.

Just a few of the problems:

- the cursor continually jumps from the bottom of the editing window to the top

- div tags have a habit of jumping all over the place

- it ignores common html/css tags and attributes

- image formatting is very limited

For these reasons, and more, can anyone recommend an alternative editor?

Judging from all the alternative post editors it’s obvious that others share my experience. But I need something more powerful that can edit pages, not just posts.

Many thanks for any tips!

You can try some desktop editor clients which sync with your online version?

Mac: Coda, Espresso, Adobe’s Dreamweaver CS4

Windows: Notepad++, Adobe’s Dreamweaver CS4

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I should have asked: Does anyone else have these problems with the editor. Is it a well-known thing?

I’m going to try using it through Firefox and see if that makes any difference.

Never mind! I take it back… I switched to using the editor in Firefox and it’s like night and day… no more problems at all.

Hopefully this might help some other “newbie” struggling with the editor.
