Hi

Maybe someone has already asked this question, I just wanna make sure that authors can use their own themes to create a website and provide some services online to clients without select 100% GPL? (Don’t allow the clients to download the theme, just using it online.)

For example, I’m planning to submit an application theme to Themeforest, and meanwhile, I also want to create a online web service for some clients for free or need a payment like basecamp(SAAS), The user are not allowed to download any resource, they can only use the service online.

Hope your suggestions.

Thanks!

You maintain the rights over all the files you sell here. If you’re an Exclusive author, you can’t give the items away for free to everyone, but you can use them for your own clients.

Please see – http://themeforest.net/licenses/faq#pay-to-use-own-items-a

Do I need to pay to use my own items within the regular or extended terms?

No. You can use your own items for free in your freelance work for clients. If you’re exclusive, remember you can’t distribute your own items elsewhere.

Example: You could use your own web template for your client’s website.
