Hi everyone I am working on my first template for Themeforest, and I have a question regarding stock photos. I know I’m not allowed to include the images in the template files, but does anyone know if I am allowed to use images bought fra iStockphoto.com in my demo of the template?

The main concern is about copyright. You are allowed to use PhotoDune, iStockPhoto, and any other stock photo for your demo, as long as you have purchased the photo.

You can also use your own photo, if it is good enough for your demo (and main file), but don’t forget to prepare the Model Release file for your own photo.

you need to check under what license you’ve bought the photos from that marketplace, if it allows use for commercial products.

I’m assuming yes, but they have photos under the “editorial” license that can’t be used for commercial products.

better if you contact the support of that marketplace and ask them directly
