Hi gang, I had some requests recently from various Video Hive members (and maybe non-members as well) about trying to get a verbal agreement as per using couple of my songs in their projects. They were referring to the preview watermark versions, you know, those ones that anybody can download and use in an instance. My question is… Can they do that? I mean, sure, if you purchase the track you should be able to use it as per license, but to download the preview and use it in your project without paying… hmmmm. What’s your take on that? How does it work? Cheers
Collaboration is a very VERY wise thing to do with other marketplaces. It will definitely increase your sales. I am not sure if they are allowed to do it without consent from the author but I definitely wouldn’t complain if they did
They will almost always put a link to your audio in the description but if they forget, I would just drop them a friendly line requesting it.
Personally, I prefer if they use the watermarked versions. That way no one can rip it straight out of the video preview without buying it. I don’t really mind if they ask me for permission or not. Videohive members are welcome to use any preview of mine. I do expect they will put a link back to the music though. Likewise, if they let me know I’m more than happy to link the video project in the music description.

Thanks for the heads-up! I’m just getting rolling with Audio Jungle and this answers one of the questions I’ve been working on =D
if I were an audio producer I’d definitely demand/insist on only allowing watermarked versions to be used, otherwise they could just be ripped out of preview videos by unscrupulous people. I’d also require the vh author ask permission from you before using your audio, as it’s your creative work being used to help sell somebody else’s project, which you may or may not get sales from. i’d also insist the vh author put a prominent link to your audio file in the description, to give you credit, if you consent to having your (watermarked) audio used that way (which most of them do), so you can potentially get sales from that. Agree collaborations’ a good idea, done carefully with safeguards in place (like watermarked only audios).

I allow authors to use my watermarked files in their projects. (Keep in mind, this is just for their preview project. They cannot include the watermarked audio in their download) All I ask in return is a link to my file in their description and if possible, a shout out for the soundtrack in their video. Easy promotion. Just make sure you ask before hand if you can use it, otherwise it sorta pisses us audio guys off
Feel free to use mine with the audio-mark/watermark.
