Can Wordpress handle 15 million?

So, I own a blogish site that gets roughly 15 million hits per month, currently on Drupal. Long story short, I would like to move it to another CMS . I did not build the site initially and it’s a mess functionally. Although I have built countless sites/themes/apps on WordPress in the past, I’ve never run WP in a high traffic environment and am curious to hear from others who have: what was your experience?

I would like to avoid theoretical answers and hear more from those who have actually had success or failure using WP with a similar traffic load.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Envato runs a few high profile blogs on WordPress without issues (http://freelanceswitch.com/ is an example). Another example non-envato network example is: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/

I don’t have the link handy but one of the developers from Envato recently did a presentation about running high traffic on WordPress. They seem to be pretty successful at it.

I can’t give you any personal testimonials with my WP installs. None of my WordPress installs get close to that in monthly hits.

The entire tuts+ network is running WP.

As far as I know the whole http://wordpress.com runs on a single wordpress install.
