Hi
I have both cams, 650 + 600, and these are my conclusions about the 650D technical advantages:
- Touch screen (almost never use it, it’s easier to operate with the buttons!)
- Video autofocus (not much worth actually, especially not with non-STM lenses)
- Better light sensitivity (where, what?)
- Better boost ISO (never tried)
- Stereo Microphone (this is really great if you don’t habe a better one seperate or even a separate recorder)
But: It definitely has more noise in the same ISO settings. No good!!!!

And Magic Lantern is still not running :( I use that a lot, a great tool!!

Check this out too: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canon-eos-650d-rebel-t4i
Hope that helps?
Cheers
Mat

OK Magic Lantern really is a game changer. If it doesn’t run on 650D, go for all means with 600D

Hello ! I had the same interrogation some month ago, and i had the chance to test both… In fact Video autofocus is NOT usable when you do real videos, i mean if you film your child running ok, it can be acceptable, but if you need something really accurate for a clip or short film, without some little errors of focus you have to do it manually !!! And the video quality is exactly the same for the 2… Considering that + the fact that magic lantern (a little hack that gives much more help to film) i choose the 600d and bought some better lenses with the difference… note that this is the real thing : save your money and buy good lenses with good aperture..

I’m really happy with this choice even if the touch screen was nice to use…

here are 2 videos i made with it :

have fun :) hope this helped

They are all capable of shooting stunning HD Video. As well as the Panasonic GH2 / 3 or the Sony Nex 5N, 6, 7. You can’t make much mistakes here, you just have to decide what you like the most.

The canons have this special “Canon Look” which really is great out of the box.

Comparison between 600D and 650D: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SdHoHH5Sok

Magic Lantern is a custom firmware, written by fans for Canon cameras bringing stunning features to the camera. Search on google for it to find out what’s capable.

Do a google search for all cameras in your budget, take a look at many many youtube reviews but keep in mind that you may not want to judge the video wuality on compressed youtube footage.

Big advantage of the Panasonic and Sony Nex series is that you can use old manual glas with an adapter very cheap. Canons cannot do that because the mirror gets into the way. Also the Panasonic have an electronic viewfinder you can use while filming, the canons have an optical which is not useable in movie mode.

I really would like to give you the one cam that fits all your needs but actually, every one of them will do a good job. I would take a look at Canon 600D, Panasonic GH2 and Sony Nex 5N. You have to decide, just google around and watch youtube reviews.
