Just a small suggestion, I think you should add class to your header/footer and style them using classes, because some other content in your theme ( for example the one introduced by a plugin ) could use header/footer elements and then your style will apply to them too. Note that in html5, header/footer elements are not restricted to one per page and can be used in variety of cases.
