I’m trying to remove all the errors from my WP theme, I’m using Theme Check plugin to find all the errors, one of them is:

WARNING: thumbs.db Windows thumbnail store found.

The strange stuff is that I can’t find this file even though I can see the invisible items, I’m running on Windows 8 Pro, I’ve also searched for “thumbs”, “thumbs.db” with no success, any clue?

If you can’t find it don’t worry about it, just put a small note in ‘Notes to reviewer’ and I will delete it for you.

Thank you so much Ivor, I’m working hard on this theme, want to clear all the Warnings, Errors, and Recommendations, also changed/improved some theme elements.

I think it’s a bug with the new Explorer of Windows 8, I was able to find thumbs.db using FileZilla (as a file manager, LOL – clever, huh?).

Thank you so much.

I just use explorer++ which will show you everything

For me, using win 7, it does the trick of removing such files rather well

I’ve fixed with FileZilla, since it’s a file manager/explorer too, don’t want to install extra programs when I can sort it out with the current ones, although thank you for the suggestion, I’ll keep it in mind if I experience any other issues.

thumbs.db is a hidden windows file that gets made in folders where you have images. It caches the thumbs in that file. It can be viewed if you set to reveal hidden files.

No it can’t, at least not on Windows 8 Pro, or maybe it’s an issue with my copy of Windows 8, even tough it’s a legit one with license key, I’m going to install W8 on my other laptop too, and test it there to see if will be visible, as a side note I’ve done a small test, I’ve hidden a file near a hidden thumbs.db, and guess what? The OS saw the hidden file, but not the thumbs.db :/.

Um, the thumbs.db is seen as system file… so the reveal of simple hidden files don’t reveal it. Only if you uncheck the “Hide protected operating system files” you can see it.
