Changes to author dashboard

You are absolutely correct, they are putting lot of efforts for major features and to solve issues. Here is another big feature probably on beta.

The sad part for ThemeForest and similar heavy duty marketplace authors are we are going to live with almost same basic level model of rating system, payment, licensing and communication options since Envato has no resources for improvements on these area but only have plans for heavy expansions (like photodune and Graphiclancer).

Personally I understood we will never have improvements or fixes on core issues but just see expansions that doesn’t have relevance with TF or CC. No problem, we are able to live with limited level licensing, payment and rating systems – sadly, past success becomes the proof of its efficiency and usability regardless of today’s efficiency of those tools.

I saw the new Upload entry in the Author name dropdown menu. So devs aren’t ignoring our advice at all. Hope so

All sounds like there is no dedicated staff deciding the “set of features for usability improvement” but just random tweaks happening with its own eventual way “by chance” at the mercy of dev team’s own efforts. All these helps to say “we are listening your words and doing them”. This is wrong and not ethical!

When the staff themselves start analyzing the list of needs/fixes and come-up with set of balanced features, that going be better than resolving things from forum feedbacks! We are missing the former approach for a long time which was more helpful than just listening us for minute details.

Hi there. Just because it seems like you guys are more attracted to little tweaks than the bigger issues, then I have come up with sth maybe you guys should consider in tweaking. It’s about the Interview badge. The badge is cool, but it’s much cooler if it’s clickable and when clicking, it would redirect to the author’s article on Envato Notes. It would help more buyers to reach the author’s interview in particular and Envato Notes in general.

We aren’t simply “listening your words and doing them”, but we are most definitely listening.

I mentioned that way because only the upload box moved first. Then later the upload button added to top menu (after someone asked – could be a coincidence though). Usually such changes expected to be “set of” decisions that happens simultaneously after balanced UX design. For example, even the entire upload box is not needed on dashboard as long as top menu shows it (I say this from TF and CC author’s perspective but even fits for whole marketplace authors). Adding/changing one by one is fine but only when both are not related and very distinct features.

Yes, authors aware that there are more improvements on the way. Meantime, due to current change or something the following issue added:

If a CodeCanyon author receives item comments, it shows on dashboard only when the dashboard page opened through CodeCanyon. If the author doesn’t have item on TF, then the dashboard doesn’t show unread comments through TF dashboard. This is actually an unnecessary change; hope this is possible to fix in no time.

This is why authors complain too frequently. For every new change, there comes equal number of patches/fixes needed these days. I really don’t like to be a complainer but user experience is not smooth enough here especially at the time of minor tweaks. That’s why we request reasonably full set of additions after full fledged testing/approval by UX specialist. Otherwise things can be redundant for even simple changes.

Or is it true that Envato doesn’t even set a testing arrangement to preview the changes by staffs? Unless a proper testing environment arranged and relevant staff (other than developers) spends time to test them – each and every addition may kill users. Hope future improvements wont require additional fixes.

why I can’t see anymore the comment area in my dashboard when I’m logged in on a marketplace where I took the author test but I did not upload an item yet? It always worked but then a couple of weeks ago it vanished. I’m trying to figure out a reason why this functionality was removed but I can’t find anything. Is very annoying to change the marketplace, if you are in the wrong one, just to see if someone posted a comment or not.
