Hi, I bought WP themes in the past but I never bought iOS templates so I’d like to understand the license better. I’d like to get an iOS app template, modify it and then publish it on the App Store. As far as I understand I can use the regular license if I distribute the app for free and I must use the extended license if I distribute the app for $0.89 Is it correct or I’m missing something? Thank you

Which app template are you referring to? There is an Apps category on CodeCanyon, but that’s for personal use. If it’s not in that category and there is an extended license option, yes, you are correct.

What I still do not understand is:

if I buy an extended license of a codecanyon item, should I ask for author’s permission before using it in a theme to sell on themeforest?

I asked some codecanyon authors if they will allow me to use their items in a theme for themeforest, but no answer yet…So… should I just buy the extended license and just use it, or I need the author’s approval first?

For use in stock, you need approval. Keep in mind that some CC authors put a blanket statement allowing anyone to use their items on their profile page.

Thanks! I had a look and he does not have that statement anywhere. LOL I think I’ll wait then for his approval :) I am like a child in front of a candy store, waiting for the opening hours!
