We had a glitch with the email and no one was notified. Thanks Zeplix for pointing that out! I’ve sent another email to all Tuts+ Marketplace authors to inform them. Sorry!

It’s ok that you close whatever you think in your company, but please, don’t sell us the idea that it’s good for us or the users… it’s good for Envato.
As an author my revenue in the marketplace is much higher than writing for your blogs (I made 1.800US$ net with just one tutorial). To be honest it’s a good move for Envato and I understand it, this way you pay 150-300US$ per tutorial and get a lot more profit.
I always loved Envato (there are my badges) because of their commitment with the authors but this is really disappointing, not just the close but the way you do it… I was preparing content to be uploaded, I spent 3 weeks waiting for support to attend my doubts, and after all you tell me it’s not going to be published… not to mention the time we already spent on promoting our tutorials.
There are other ways to market our content properly: http://www.verkami.com/projects/4335-curso-de-photoshop-color-profesional-para-personajes
I’m also creating my own website to sell my tutorials and certainly my graphic river items, and anybody who want to share good high quality content and revenue is welcome.

Thanks, Zeplix. Yes, do check out that other thread as there’s a lot of good feedback.
@SOS – This was a tough decision and we knew there would be authors who would be negatively affected so it’s not something we took lightly. In your case, you have one of the top selling items of all time on the marketplace so it’s especially tough. With only a few exceptions, we just didn’t feel like this was the ideal place to earn or learn online, which is our primary objective. I’m truly sorry that this affects you in this way. I know that you said the Tuts+ isn’t the ideal place for you, but shoot me an email through support and we’ll se if we can work something out.

I have been a huge fan of your sites and your blogs helped me a lot in my career as freelance artist, in exchange I provided really good content in 2 marketplaces and 3 of your blogs several times… but sorry, I think this is not the way to close a website that affects to some of us.
Just to be clear, what make me upset is not that you close your site (this income is residual for me though I planned to upload a lot more content), it’s the way you do it… I expected an explanation other than “we do it for you”.
I filled your author survey some weeks ago, there I explain why Tuts+ doesn’t work for established professionals, at least in my case… you need to choose: low income and high exposure of free tutorials or low exposure and higher income of premium tutorials.
You can contact me at any time.
@SOS – I’m not a designer but I just went and bought your tutorial. I really like how you have the gif that shows the picture evolve into the final product. I think you are great and should pursue your own website! Let me know when it’s live

I would have to agree here (except for the “residual income” part, as I have several thousand sales). If the marketplace is to be closed, at least it would have been nice that it went out with a bang, not just a single short blog post.
