I’m curious why WP is seperated from the “CMS” offerings on here. Is WP not a CMS ? I was thinking about checking out one of these OTHER systems like joomla…to have extra choices in themes to choose from.

WP is separated from CMS for comfort reason i believe. It is most popular category here. There are about 150 themes only for both Joomla and Drupal and 1600+ for wordpress.

So, there is no reason to have an extra choice from CMS category in my opinion. If something you need can be found in wordpress themes category, do not waste your time learning joomla, it is much more complicated and harder to work system.

I wouldn’t agree with that as it can only be your personal opinion. As matter in fact, I find Joomla less complicated than wordpress. I’m dealing with joomla for 4 years. To conclude, I think it’s matter of personal choice and preferences.

Of course, it is my personal opinion and everyone has it’s own. But lets believe to the facts, WP most popular and its popularity is growing, when the Joomla is go down from day to day. And there is maybe only one reason for that – wp is better.

Joomla is easier than WP? hmmm, now I am even more curious..lol I guess It does make sense to seperate them based on popularity, sales, etc. but its getting confusing for us newbs as far as where to turn for “user freindly” CMS . I dont really have the time to learn code, nor the need, considering the price of a great theme already made up.

I must say, WP sure does LOOK like the better choice (sales wise) but even in the WP category itself..people seem to flock to themes sandwiched between lower sales I.E. “0 sales” “14 sales” ” 2sales” So the one with 14 sales must be the best! but I bet thats not always the case.

This got me thinking perhaps joomla or drupal may be overlooked in their true value.

Wordpress is indeed a CMS . It has its own position on themeforest simply because its so popular. But its not for everyone. I have set up WP sites for clients who complain its too difficult – usually people who rarely go near a pc other than to check emails. I suggest WP to clients who will be making regular blog posts – helps google ranking too. But there are other powerful cms choices out there: Drupal, Joomla, EE, Modx, Silverstripe, Concrete5. And there’s a few hosted cms providers like Cushy CMS . Best way to cause a forum pile up is to slag off WP or Joomla lol! I like Joomla and find it no more difficult to learn. Just started looking at Drupal too. Some very nice features. We’re not living in flatlands. Choose what best fits the job. Good luck
