Code Quality on Themeforest items

1. some themes have a lot of javascripts in the header. i mean huge amounts. 10 – 20 includes. so you are right there. they never thought of combining them.

2. you not being an author do not have experience with the themes on themeforest. i ask you to create one and show us how it’s done.

edit: and some themes have code that make elements stay in one place with miracles.

For #1, that’s one of the things I was referring to, thank you.

For #2, I’m not bragging and there’s no other point in showing what I code rather than credibility and that has absolutely nothing to do with the main point.

I think it’s not about coding standards…. every developer is free to code his code how he thinks is better.

We should talk about WP development standards and best practices. If I ignore when coding how WP works and that my code could break other people code I wouldn’t be a good developer.

So, I agree that the WP guide lines should be always followed… we’re kinda guests in the WP house, so we should always try to respect this.

I am glad you are satisfied. The topic has bought some useful links. Personally I think next time, maybe post a question, rather than a damning, sweeping statement. The reason some many people got ‘shirty’ was the way you worded your opening post.

If you had stated something like: ‘I have looked at some WP themes and the coding standard, to me, doesn’t seem to be there, what steps does TF use to check quality themes?’ you would have got the answer straight away.

Again its been interesting, and some useful links have been posted, so I thank everyone who hsa been involved. I just feel it could have been achieved without all the pain.

That said, Themes and Templates are rigorously tested. Just to give you an example, themes are tested with:

• WP_DEBUG enabled.
• Theme Check
• Debogger
• Log Deprecated Notices
• We check if themes are enqueueing stylesheets and JavaScript properly.

And the list goes on and on.

Code quality is one of our main priority and we’re working hard to improve this aspect.
