I am writing an article on Color theory for design on the internet at the moment and I wonder if any of you guys have some input! I already wrote about additive and subtractive mixing of colors and different techniques to combining colors such as complementary combinations or monochromatic styles. How do you guys pick your colors for your designs?

I almost always have a theme in mind.

My hand will generally be forced on a certain main color, and I move forward from there. Kuler helps, but a lot of the time it’s simple trial and error.

Absolutely love articles that talk about the simple (yet very important) components of web design (color and typography), so I’m looking forward to the post!

Same here I’ll usually have a main color in mind then use colorlovers.com to search for some palettes, then I’ll mix, match and tweak them to get my final scheme
