Yeap, this is still the best solution at the moment, if you can detonate it in the current position have the smaller risk to injury people (due to ages, corrosion, and God knows what else, moving it might cause an explosion).

As I know it was 550 pounds air bomb and sappers detonated it because they couldn’t disarm that bomb. After explosion a lot of houses lost windows and a little fire breaks out on a few rooftops.

I guess the government will pay for the damages, so they don’t have anything to worry about, better with a few windows shattered than the whole neighbourhood :bigwink:.

What a coincidence – they found one on our airport (Schiphol) this morning as well :o They’ve moved it out of the capital for a controlled detonation too ;)

I heard that on BBC news this morning, that’s very strange? maybe the media had a run on UXB ’s or something, my wife pointed that out to me as we were in Amsterdam last week, doing the tourist thing and no where near the red light district i have to say :) we had our young daughter with us! I also heard they also had a jet scramble at the very same airport today, they couldn’t make contact with an incoming aircraft, apparently.

Yeah, an incoming aircraft didn’t make radio contact when entering the airspace and made weird manouvres. Apparently it’s standard routine to send two F16 ’s to escort the plane down ;)

Scary stuff! Glad i wasn’t on it!

Bad news to hear about the bomb in Germany today, unfortunately there is probably still a lot of these around.

Mudi, that post was bleak enough, but it’s also your 666th post. :O I hope you stay safe in your city. It’s sad that some people in the world have to live in such a situation.
