Hey guys, I want to achieve something like FreshFace did (and many other authors).

Here’s what I want to do.

I will have 4 different options for the slider on my homepage. I have a dropdown menu in my theme options to choose the slider, and it swap it in the index by the good “php” page so each slider have it’s own “php” ... but when I’m gonna have the live preview, I want to be able to create pages and show different layout like this :

http://demo.freshface.net/file/st/wp/?slider_type=paralel

http://demo.freshface.net/file/st/wp/?slider_type=freshcubes

Again, im a newbie with WP stuff ..

I understand that it retrieve some kind of info related to the choices that is made in the theme options .. but I don’t know how ..

Thanks guys!

You can retrieve any query string variable to show features in your demo site. I do the same thing to switch the slide show. Instead of looking for a theme option to change the home page slide show I use a query string variable:

So with: http://demo.freshface.net/file/st/wp/?slider_type=paralel

I would have a condition like:

if ($_GET['slider_type'] == 'paralel') {
    // code to show my parallel slide show
} else {
    // code to show my default slide show
}

I assume he is retrieving the variable ‘slider_type’ = ‘paralel’, ‘freshcubes’ etc etc and dynamically displaying that slider in the page.

So in his slider module / page etc, he will do something like this…

if(isset($_GET["slider_type"])) :
      if($_GET["slider_type"] == 'paralel'):
            // Code for displaying paralel slider
      elseif($_GET["slider_type"] == 'freshcubes'):
            // Code for displaying freshcubes slider
      ...
      else:
            ...
      endif;
endif;

I’ll have to learn how to do this :)

Any ressources?

Today I’ll start to read everything I can find about PHP , I think it will help a lot for coding WP.
