Cubase 6 is out soon, it sounds pretty cool, no doubt I’ll upgrade, anyone have any thoughts on the new features?
I will probably upgrade (I skipped version 5 so maybe it’s about time), but I need to replace my aging workstation first, as it’s done some troubling things lately
.
I haven’t yet checked out what’s changed, and honestly I don’t know that I’ll use even 25% of all that’s there. In my current version I don’t use any of the instruments or plugs that come with it since there are not too expensive 3rd party VSTs that sound better IMO . But I like the UI and find it easy to do what I want to quickly – probably as much a result of having used it for a long time as anything else.
Now that I think of it, I’m going to have to look around to see if there are any killer deals on version 5 since it’s obsolete now

It’s actually out now. I bought it two days ago. It doesn’t support windows xp though. So i’ve had to buy windows 7. Some of the new features look very good.

I’m loving how it can analyze an audio track which has a changing tempo, and automatically create a tempo track which changes with the audio, and the new timestretching algorithm. New hitpoints detection is massively improved. I’m really pleased with this upgrade.
I was thinking about upgrading.. but got somewhat alarmed by the fact that it wouldn’t run on XP. Did anyone have troubles moving their production machines from Win XP to Win 7 64 bit? I tried running Win 7 Adviser and it told me that I would have to do a custom upgrade and to reinstall all of my software.. what a bummer..
I just got a Win 7 64 bit box and I can say that Cubase 4 doesn’t play well with it. I’d install 6 but they still haven’t even shipped it (grrrrr). Should have opted for the download version – oh well. I’ll get to spend some quality time with Reaper for a few days…
Is Cubase 6 64bit native? Can I use all 12 GB of RAM in my computer with this sequencer? I have very demanding templates when writing. I have always been a fan of Cubase-fantastic software! I currently use Cubase Studio 4.
Cheers! Dave.
Not that I’m a good resource for information because they still haven’t shipped the software since my March 3 order (can you tell this makes me grumpy)?...
I believe you can either run it in 32 or 64 bit mode. One thing to be aware of is that if you have 32 bit plugs you’ll need to use a bridge like JBridge to run them in Cubase 64 bit.
