Some of us likes our item’s price to be less than the normal price of the items of the same standard as that file. In my experience, personally (even thought that’s not true) I think that higher priced items have higher standards, well maybe obviously in this marketplace. So if buyers actually do think that, then i guess my sales will decrease even though i kept my price low intentionally.
What my opinion is add “on request from author” under the price of any item whose price was re set by the author by requesting. This might actually effect sales.
No, the set price thing should remain as it is, Envato reviewers decide the price, ensuring the marketplace a quality, better code means higher price. Allowing authors to reset the item’s price would ruin it to the ground.

You didn’t get my point. Do you even know that authors can ask support to lower their item’s price?

If the item was over priced – yes, or if it was under priced. But Envato won’t lower the price ‘just because you want’, they must ensure a good price/quality in order for the marketplaces to work properly.
One of the worst ideas, the way it is now is perfect. If they’d let the authors change it, we’ll see newbie authors invading the marketplaces with $5 prices. We already see it on all the freelance sites where freelancers from poor countries are ruining the market, surely I don’t want this to happen here too.

Reduction is possible only on rare cases with fair reasons that convinces approval criterias.
There was a “price – increment tool” allocated for authors after crossing 75k worth of sales. It was removed later and I remember hearing they are working on it. Hope it will comeback!

True..
if any author think he have overpriced or underpriced item he can write to support his opinion. But creating wider price adjustment system in not good for the market.
